KARL RABE PHOTOGRAPHY
- about -

I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, but
I've lived most of my life in the Hudson Valley of
New York State.

My career as a photographer began in the mid-1990s, almost
always working as a staff photographer for newspapers.

I'm currently a freelance photographer, in business on my own.

Working as a photojournalist has exposed me to just about
every form of photography: from unpredictable breaking
news, sports, features, architectural, nature and performing
arts to studio-based photoillustration, product and
conceptual portraiture.

Throughout, I've somehow also been able to maintain this as a
hobby and you can say that I "eat, sleep and breathe" photography.

Someone recently asked me what I like about photography
and what kind of photographs I most like to take.
Initially, I was absurdly stumped by this simple and
straight-forward question.
While I love telling stories visually by composing
and timing a 3-dimensional space (the real world) into
2-dimensions (a photograph), it's really all about
the people I get to meet and sometimes places I get to
visit along the way.

My work has been published in The New York Times, USA Today,
New York Magazine, NY Daily News, Philadelpha Inquirer,
Harvard Magazine, many regional publications in the Hudson Valley,
nydailynews.com, Forbes.com, Time.com, bigstory.ap.org,
nbcsports.com, espn.com, editorandpublisher.com, etc., etc.
